In interactions, every human being has the opportunity to commit crimes because there are values that are entered from individuals or groups to other individuals or groups as a result of the socialization process. In prison, the inmates are in an environment with people with criminal status and interact with other inmates which then has the potential to produce new knowledge that is more expert on how to commit crimes, so that inmates can repeat their crimes in the future after leaving prison. This Study aims to describe how the social interaction process of drug recidivist convicts while they are in the Penitentiary Class IIB Tebing Tinggi. The type of research used is qualitative research, which uses the theory of Differential Association by Edwin Sutherland which explains how criminal behavioris learnedthrough social interaction. Data collectionin this study used observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Based on the results of the study it was found that there had been social interaction between fellow drug recidivist prisoners in exchanging informations about crimes, both directly taught and through sharing stories of experiences of crimes that had been commited
