The large need for educational facilities in the community has led to the rapid development of educational facilities themselves. Ma'had Aly is a religious-based formal higher education level in Indonesia. Like high schools in general, Ma'had Aly also organizes special education programs aimed at continuing education levels from the equivalent high school education level (Aliyah). The fulfillment of educational facilities through this development is certainly inseparable from environmental exploitation which contributes to carbon emissions and causes adverse impacts on the surrounding environment. For this reason, in planning, Ma'had Aly applies the concepts of ecological architecture, where the planning requires an ecosystem linkage between the building and the surrounding environment. One form of ecosystem relationship between buildings and the environment is thermal comfort which is energy efficient. Thermal comfort is influenced by several factors, one of which is the orientation of the building mass. For this reason, in planning Ma'had Aly, several analyzes were carried out related to the arrangement of the building mass so that the resulting design could save energy use but also meet the needs for thermal comfort of building users.
