This research explores the analysis of figurative language in Maya Angelou's poems. The objectives were to describe and analyze the figurative language employed by Angelou in her poetry. The research method utilized was descriptive research, drawing data from seven of Angelou's poems. The findings revealed the presence of seven types of figurative language, including Alliteration, Hyperbole, Metaphor, Personification, Simile, Symbolism, and Onomatopoeia. These figurative languages imbue Angelou's poems with themes of determination, oppression, racism, discouragement, stereotype, and sacrifice, showcasing the depth and complexity of her poetic expression.
