Pekanbaru City is a city that is developing rapidly in development. This has an impact on environmental problems, especially increased CO2 emissions and high air temperatures. The research aim was to analyze the types of trees planted on green roads in Pekanbaru and the absorption capacity of each type of tree. The research method was used the survey method. The research location was on the green road on Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Soekarno Hatta, Pekanbaru. The data was used primary and secondary data. The research results was showed that the identification of tree species in the Sudirman green road was 6 species with a total of 1,109 trees. The types and number of trees found on Jalan Soekarno Hatta were 8 types and 1,632 trees. The most dominant tree species found in the Sudirman and Soekarno Hatta green roads was the Angsana (Pterocarpus indicus). The type of tree that absorbs the most CO2 was the Angsana type at 22,003.36 kg/year on Jalan Sudirman. Meanwhile on Jalan Soekarno Hatta it was the Tabebuya type with a CO2 absorption capacity of 21,863.73 kg/year. It is hoped that the types of trees planted in the green belt would have the characteristics of a tree height of > 12 meters, a wide canopy that functions as shade, be non-toxic, small fruit, have deep roots, and not damage the road.
