The significance of library services for the elderly is to provide a space for creativity and collaboration, thus enabling the elderly to remain active, independent and empowered. The objective of this research is to develop an understanding of the characteristics of public library services in Indonesia that are designed to meet the needs of older people. The objective of this paper is to identify and provide recommendations for the concept of developing elderly-friendly public library services, with a particular focus on Indonesia. This research employs a systematic literature review methodology to develop guidelines within the field of social sciences. The literature review was conducted in four stages: (1) the design of the review, (2) the execution of the review, (3) the analysis, and (4) the writing up of the review. The research data was collected through a search on Google Scholar, which focused on previous research on library services for the elderly, as well as literature deemed relevant to the research objectives. The findings of the research project have yielded several innovative approaches for the development of elderly-friendly public library services. These include the implementation of accessible physical design, the introduction of specialised services and programmes, the provision of assistive technology, the establishment of collaborative partnerships with local organisations, and the incorporation of regular evaluation. It is anticipated that the implementation of these recommendations will result in a more inclusive and useful library, as well as enhanced support for the welfare and active participation of the elderly in society.
