This study aims to analyze the efforts to manage book collections in the Library of SMA Negeri 8 Medan using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) classification system in order to improve student information retrieval. With a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, the study explores the extent to which the application of DDC affects information accessibility. The results of the study indicate that classification according to DDC significantly speeds up book searches and makes it easier for students and librarians to browse collections. However, the effectiveness of management is highly dependent on the librarian's understanding and students' information literacy. It is concluded that physical and digital management based on DDC can improve the efficiency of information retrieval if supported by training, a comprehensive catalog system, and continuous evaluation.
