This study aims to describe the ethnobotany of traditional Malay food in Bagan Punak Pesisir Village, Bangko District, Rokan Hilir Regency, Riau Province. This study used a survey method with interview guidelines and purposive sampling techniques. Data was collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. This study found that there are 11 types of plants used in making traditional Malay food in Bagan Punak Pesisir Village. These plants are categorized into 7 families. The use of plants in traditional Malay food in Bagan Punak Pesisir Village shows a close relationship between culture and the environment. The plants used not only have culinary functions, but also have health functions and symbolic meanings. This study provides important information about the ethnobotanical knowledge of the Malay Tribe in Bagan Punak Pesisir Village. This information can be used to preserve the culture and culinary traditions of the Malay Tribe, as well as to develop the potential for culinary tourism in the village.
